St Joseph School Burning

At around 10:00 Eric came home from getting gas for the boat and told me St. Joseph School was on fire so I went to have a look and this is the picture I took in order from 10:30pm to 12:30am.

10:30 alot of smoke

11:00 pm fire starts to grow

11:30 Fire pretty much burning on its own.

The fire burned all night and destroyed the whole section of the school. At 8 when I went to work they were still pouring water on it and it was still smoking. They have confirmed it was arson and that it started under the structure and spread into the floor and walls very quickly. They had a hard time getting at the fire so they used back hoe's (you can see them in the first picture) to tear the building down. That was when the flames started again. It sounder like they might have called the water bomber in to drop water on it but I'm not sure.

That's crazy, Laurie! Mark went and watched it but these are the first pictures I've seen. A friend that works at the paper was telling me yesterday that it was still burning in the walls and still hadn't been put out yet! What a tragedy. I'm glad no one was hurt.

Blogger must have eaten my comment from earlier. Sigh.

I asked "Who would burn a school? Unless it was a kid who really didn't like math..."

They haven't made any announcement if they caught the person(s) responsible bu the rumour is it was 2 kids around 11 or 12. If so I don't think they thought it would get so big.
